Hey hutch, I suppose it depends on what you are after looks or handling. I have looked into doing a 240 conversion here but no one wanted to take it on. I have been in contact with a couple of people over seas and they are helping me at the moment. This is the 240 conversion... it speaks for itself

Thats what I am talking about. Is that F***ing good or what. The yanks say with the 200, the only mob is to the belt guard.
You lose a little handling and the tyre wears very quickly in the centre but shit I want to do it. But the 240 is fantastic. What about the front. Ever thought of just one size bigger or is that playing with fire ?

I thought that was what those big arse Harley thingys were for.....:hehe::hehe::hehe:
Looks good, but I am guessing it is going to have about the same handling as a Harley as well.
Fuck I notice when I put a new rear tyre on without the flat spot it has had for the last 5k and it makes a massive difference.
Suppose it is down to what you use your Buell for

like i said, it depends on what you want. the trend these days is for custom bikes to have same size front and rear tyres. Buells where designed and are known for their excellent handling but not everyone needs there buell to handle..... whatever works for you just do it. im sure there are plenty of people on this forum that will help you whichever way you go.

i'm a show off, so i'd opt for the 240 rear :hehe:
btw pikey, you spend more time wheel standin than cornerin eh
T.
I put a 190 on my ULY, it seems okay, but I have chicken strips, unlike pikey:hehe:
The closest thing to the tyre is the belt, if you measure this gap, you should be able to work out what size tyre will fit standard. Any bigger and you have to move the rear pulley, front pulley, front pulley cover, and so it goes....................
There is a thread on a forum somewhere from a south african dude who had step by step photos of his conversion, looked sweet, but as the others said, he had to adjust his riding style to suit.
Good Luck:shades:

Looks like a lot of work to go that far.....the 240 that is

Nice show bike, but personally if the mod doesn't make it handle better, go faster, or stop quicker, it's a waste of money in my eyes (and I've wasted enough to know).
Maybe a nice paint job if the stock ones a bit dull.

mmm Looks great but, I see a lot of problems. Where is the drive belt? I can see the brake disc on other-side but no chain or belt.... I reckon even a chain wont fit without a lot of mods ....and it would be outside the frame...mmm Nice sounding push bike? :dum:

swingarm & frame are longer on SS & uglies (& 1125's)
standard XB's are shorter.

But, same width? Might be a good answer for hutch as he was looking into this 190-200 conversion with minimal mods....
Captain Nartman
15-02-2010, 03:57 PM
Width? I Reckon Prolly Be Same.
N x
Same engine and gearbox, so the belt will be in the same place. I haven't noticed any difference in handling, but like I said, I don't take it to the edge.
You might stretch to a 200 tyre, but I would check if the rim is wide enough. I remember reading somewhere that a too narrow rim might screw you over, and the tyre would roll from side to side.
BTW, my bike is really high.........if you put one on an s, I think it would look pretty fat:grin:

I got onto a site for Buellers in the states. Now I carn't find the site I was on, but I have seen photos of a XB short with the mod using a 200 and all they needed to do was take of the belt guard or cut out about a 10mm notch. I will keep tying to find the site.
